Our History

  • Queenstown has developed from a simple overnight stop for coach tours and a winter ski resort to an internationally acclaimed four season international resort and travel destination
  • The marketing of Queenstown by Destination Queenstown (DQ) is funded by the commercial ratepayers via a levy collected by the Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC)
  • The introduction of directs flights from Auckland and Australia, and the wide range of accommodation, shopping, activities, dining and nightlife on offer, provides Queenstown with the opportunity to position itself as a year round international destination
  • Though fortunate to attract a diverse range of visitors throughout the year, there are times when a further increase in visitor numbers would be of significant benefit to all businesses.  To this end the continued development of marketing activity will target the shoulder periods in Spring and Autumn
